The Mississippi Queen in Mississippi Queen Foods, Music, Southern Supper Series

SUPER CHIKAN & BIG A ANTHONY SHERROD!!!!  That's right, Ya'll. It is with great honor, I am pleased to announce, this very special Southern Supper, with 'blues royalty', Super Chikan and Big A Anthony Sherrod, two of Clarksdale, Mississippi's most highly regarded, Delta Blues, and 'Mississippi juke' players.

You may have caught one of their shows at Red's Juke Joint, or Ground Zero, in Clarksdale, or seen them play, or heard their music, in many of the films, featuring the music of the Mississippi Delta blues players.
Super Chikan is a blues musician, artist, and guitar maker, and has been nominated as BB King Entertainer of the Year, and nominated W.C. Handy Award. He has received the Mississippi Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts, as well as a Blues Music Award Winner for Traditional Blues Music Album of the Year.  Chikan is also very well known for his handcrafted guitars, made from cigar boxes, gas tanks, and even shot guns.
Only in his early 30s, Anthony “Big A” Sherrod is a bridge between the Mississippi blues of the past and the future. Part of the next generation of Clarksdale-based blues artists, “Big A” is taking the music forward into the new century. A skilled guitar player and passionate singer, he cut his teeth in the clubs and juke joints of Mississippi and is now starting to gain recognition outside of his home state. A must see artist when visiting Clarksdale, he can be found on various stages around town, including frequent shows at Red’s, one of the last true juke joints in operation, as well as at Morgan Freeman’s Ground Zero. Raoul Bhaneja first performed with “Big A” in Clarksdale a number of years ago and is thrilled to have him make his Canadian debut, at Koerner Hall.

Chikan and Big A, will be in town, for the big 'Down in the Delta' show, at Koerner Hall, in Toronto, as Raoul & The Big Time's special guests, on Saturday, April 29th.
Since Mississippi Queen Foods hosted the 'Down in the Delta' tour, at Bay City Music Hall, a few years ago, featuring Super Chikan, Raoul Bhaneja, and Big Dave McLean, I am being paid a special visit, and thank you, the night before the big Toronto show.
They are literally, finishing up the rehearsals at Koerner Hall, on Friday afternoon, and then they are heading over to Mississippi Queen Foods, for some Down Home, Southern style hospitality. Now, if you're 'Down in the Delta', you might kick back on a back porch, and that's exactly what we intend to do, for special night of the blues. This will sound, and feel, just like you're sittin' on that porch.  We're gonna create that sound, that vibe, that feeling, along with that food.  This is as real as it gets, folks, without taking a trip to the Mississippi Delta. This will be one night, deep in the blues, brought to you, by a house full of Mississippi Folk.
Blues Royalty will be in the house, Ya'll, and we're gonna welcome them in, Mississippi style...the night's menu will include:
Fried U.S. Delta Farm Raised Catfish Fillets
Collard Greens with pork meat
Black-Eyed Peas cooked with smokey bacon
Buttermilk Cornbread Muffins
Pecan Pie
Sweet Potato Pie
Sweet Iced Tea
Cafe du Monde Coffee & Chicory
I would like to remind everyone, we have VERY LIMITED SEATING for this event. The time is 7:30-9:30, and these are non-refundable tickets.  $55 (all included).
....AND.....HOPEFULLY, Mississippi Queen Foods will be blessed with a liquor license permit, by this time.  However, if not, my neighbor at Rebel's Rock Irish Pub is offering 15% off drinks, either before or after show, to anyone attending Southern Supper at Mississippi Queen Foods.
